In Memorium: Matthew Jones

Matt Jones, a SNCC voice we respected and loved, passed on Wednesday, March 30 2011. We can only imagine the pain his family feels and offer our condolences. We can also offer our memories: Matt’s clear tenor in freedom song; his skill as an organizer and willingness to put his body on the line in struggle. And his easy-going joy of life. He was important to us in the largest sense of that word “us.” There is much of Matt that we will miss. There is much of Matt that remains here in our hearts and minds.
